Make an impact.

Unpack the future.

Deadline: January 25, 23:59.

Packaging has a big negative impact on the environment. A lot of packaging is still far from what would be considered sustainable. It is therefore of vital importance that sustainable solution is generated. That is where you come in!

The Innovation Challenge is a two-way opportunity for creative-minded students and business organizations. The students, guided by experienced mentors, can liberate their imagination, and solve business-related problems relating to sustainable packaging and environment. During the challenge, the participants will investigate real-life problems, form teams, brainstorm solutions and pitch their ideas to the judges. At the end of the day, the group with the most feasible and attractive solution will receive a prize. The day will be brought to a close to celebrate all participants during drinks.

The Innovation Challenge is brought to you by ECE Students and the Stichting Verpakking en Milieu (SVM), a Dutch foundation aiming to stimulate public enthusiasm about environmentalism through insights from their scientific studies and research regarding packaging and the environment.

The mission of the SVM is to create a sustainable community by offering environmentally friendly product packaging methods. The SVM has been contributing to the environmental protection on a global scale since 1971, when the founders of the company first published the report “Limits to Growth”. Thereupon, SVM has been representing its own packaging chains with reuse-recycle objectives for the public and private sectors and in collaboration with the customers. Nowadays, the company manages the funds remained from the contributions of more than 200 associated organizations.

During the Innovation Challenge, students will study the importance of minimizing the harmful impact of the packaging and deliveries industry on the environment and will have the opportunity to generate their own ideas of creating sustainable packaging, thus contributing to socio-ecological betterment.
